SKYRIM SPECIAL EDITION HORSE MODS INSTALL
Install like any other mod, no extra steps required.
MCM Helper Optional if you want access to the MCM menu Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) to distribute required packages to mounts This is useful because follower frameworks usually require followers to own horses for them to ride.īonus Feature:Set your horses as Protected. If you repeat this process it will return the horse back to you. If you aim at one of your followers and press the hotkey (while you are in talking range), it will gift your last ridden horse to said follower. Optional Features (Can be toggled in the MCM Menu) If you press the hotkey while aiming elsewhere it will toggle between telling your horses to wait or to follow (for now, only your horse and your followers horses will wait, horses not being mounted will return to their stables).
If you aim at one of your horses and press the hotkey (while you are in mounting range), it will open its saddlebag. This mod uses one hotkey (H by default, can be changed in the MCM menu) for everything horses (although it works on other mounts too). So I thought "Fine, I'll do it myself", and so I did. All I needed where 3 things, having a saddlebag on my horse, being able to command it to wait or follow and an option to give a horse to my follower (I hate horses spawning from nowhere, and that's what most followers frameworks do). I didn't need any of that, most (if not all) follower frameworks already handle them riding horses, and the most popular follower mods already come with their own horses. Adding quests to learn basic commands, bloating your spell list with command spells or requiring you to have a post-it to remind you what key does what. The simple ones didn't do what I wanted and the complex ones often require patches and are either script or feature creeps. So, yeah, there are a lot of horse mods on Nexus, from simple ones to really complex ones.
